A Thousand Camels

from Under The Weather by Kevin Blight

/

about

I told her Father we're travelling the Sahara
His parting shots were these words
Dom't sell my little Daisy into bonded slavery
that's the custom I've heard
I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love, sweet love

We met some Bedouin they treated me like Brethren
The chieftain was an Arab Sheikh
He poured a cup of Coffee like Molasses Toffee
Said I've got an offer to make
Would a thousand Camels be enough for her love sweet love?

I heard what he was offering and I started coughing
A flunkie patted my back
I don't know what he was smoking thought that he was joking
So I answered him flat

I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love, sweet love
I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love,
I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love, sweet love
I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love, no.

He upped the ante saying something fancy
Would ten thousand change your mind?
I said Daisy is my Missus, couldn't trade her kisses
For twenty thousand Camel, you'll find
We stopped at an oasis one of many places
Under that desert Sun
He showed me all his harem said that I could share 'em
If I would give a way my love

I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love, sweet love
I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love,
I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love, sweet love
I said a thousand Camels is not enough for her love,

When I told her Father the tale of the Sahara
He asked a funny question 'for fun'
Did this chieftain have a beard so thick you could have cheered
That's the guy who bought Daisy's Mom
And twenty thousand camels was more than enough for her love
And twenty thousand camels was more than enough for her love
