Roll Of The Dice

from Dating Satans Sister by Kevin Blight

/

about

Written almost immediately after I had come back from a short break in Milan, Italy. The Green Cat Club actually exists (including the amazingly ugly bouncers).

lyrics

She told me she was looking for another lover
She said that she was finished with someone or other
She spits 'em out and trades them in like a beat up car
Well i wasn't sitting pretty cos I been burned
Found out the hard way just how fast a table turns
They light you up and put you out like a cheap cigar
But there's times in the night when I'd welcome a little company
And a girl like her would suit me fine

There's a doorman in Milan at the Green Cat Club
Who could kill at 20 paces with his ugly mug
He'd chew you up and spit you out like a piece of gum
There hasn't been a fight in a couple of weeks
And his knuckles' getting itchy when he looks at me
It's time for me to call it a night, I've had my fun
But there's times in my life when trouble smiles, cos I walked in
And a quiet night would suit me fine

Well trouble don't look at me I'm just an ordinary guy
Lady Luck don't turn your back give me one last try
Another throw of the dice.

When someone's talking rubbish like a matter of fact
Sometimes I smile sweetly and I put on an act
Even if I really know it isn't so.
Life is short and working hours seem too long
So sometimes I just stand there and I say they're wrong
It makes me such a popular guy, they say I can go
(go find another job)
But there's times in your life when you gotta do what you gotta do
And substance over style just suits me fine.
