The Cameraman

from Dating Satans Sister by Kevin Blight

/

about

Written after seeing a lot of war footage. I wondered how people could bring themselves to put themselves into those situations, at such risk, and how their families must feel.

lyrics

Don't offer me a single thing you can't afford to lose
My bag is packed as usual, for that I'm thanking you
I'll pick the cameras up tonight and then a plane to Rome
And by the time you're reading this I'll be gone

I'm sorry if I've been distant I'll admit to feeling detached
From the ordinary everyday I somehow fail to catch
I often wish I didn't have a life that drives you mad
But I can't resist opportunities to travel to a foreign land

In tears, you once accused me
Of thriving on misery, war and human shame
But those things would happen If I weren't there all the same

And yes I've got your photograph It's where it's always been
And that image is the one I love best of all images I've seen
And every click of the shutter, every flash, every turn of my lens
Will bring me closer to your heart, closer to your heart,
Closer to your heart again.
